On the 11 August 2020 at 3pm (GMT+3), Steps of Hope distributed approximately 1,500 food hampers to those in need in Achrafieh, an eastern district of the capital of Beirut. These food hampers were filled with non-perishable items such as rice, tahini, pasta and much more.

A huge thank you to Rebekah Grindlay, Australia’s Ambassador to Lebanon, who made an effort to come out and share in our cause, helping us to distribute all the food hampers. The Australian-Lebanese community was left feeling proud at this show of support, as Beirut needs us now more than ever. This is a cause close to Australia’s heart with over 230,000 Australians also having Lebanese heritage.

Rebekah Grindlay honoured our volunteers on her social media later that day:

“I visited amazing volunteers today handing out food to people living close to the blast site – thanks to cash donations from Australian- Lebanese NGO Steps of Hope. Cash donations to organisations on the ground are the quickest way to help. Australia stands with #Beirut.”

Please keep up your generosity – our mission doesn’t end here. Donate today!

I love Beirut!
