  • Have a functioning email address in order for us to access you via online correspondence for volunteer communications and training;

What skills are required in order to be a volunteer?

Most likely, you already have all of the skills necessary to be a great volunteer. However, the following skills will help you with your mission:

  • Interpersonal skills – You’ll be meeting and interacting with a lot of people from different walks of life. Interpersonal skills will help you to adapt to different situations, connect with people and do a great job.
  • Reliability – The people we help rely on us for help. A reliable volunteer will be committed to our organisation, its mission and the people we are trying to help.
  • Listening – As a volunteer, you will meet a variety of persons who want their story to be told. It’s important that you listen to them because often, you will be the only ear that they have.

While these skills are important, you must, above all, be committed to helping families who are most in need of our help.

How much time is required from me if I volunteer?

The time commitment required from volunteers differs from role to role and will depend on the position you select. For more information on our roles, contact us here.

How do I apply?

You can apply directly on our website by browsing through our opportunities page here. When you find an opportunity that you are interested in, click ‘apply.’ You will be directed to an online application which is quick and straightforward to complete.

Is training and support provided to volunteers?

Some of our positions require formal training while others utilise on-the-job training. Any training needed will be provided by Steps of Hope.

For support, each volunteer will be in contact with a staff member for advice, support and training. Steps of Hope also has a team dedicated to ensuring that our volunteers have a positive and meaningful experience.

What if I don’t live in Lebanon, can I volunteer?

The families that we help are all located in Lebanon. However, anyone can volunteer. Whether it is through events, food drives, food packaging, and more, there is a role to suit everyone!

What will I be doing as a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you will be helping the families of Lebanon overcome poverty. While this is not an exhaustive list of a volunteer’s tasks, you can expect to do some or all of the following:

  • Visit families throughout Lebanon
  • Organise donation items
  • Provide meals for impoverished families
  • Package food hampers to be sent away
  • Assist in organising educational resources
  • And more!

Why should I volunteer?

Volunteering allows you to connect with your community and help the impoverished families of Lebanon, a reward in itself. Through this work, you will gain personal satisfaction, develop a social network, learn new skills and gain work experience.

A proud history
Did you know?

Steps of Hope was founded by a two individuals who saw the struggle among people in their homeland of Lebanon. Moved by this, they established the charity with a clear vision of eradicating poverty in Lebanon and raising awareness among the Lebanese community abroad to help those who are most in need back home. This inspiration has now become a movement, thanks to all of the volunteers who have worked tirelessly and put their passion, skills, time and love to work.
